Taking to facebook, former Nandi Governor Dr Cleophas Lagat said that he has heard the cries of the people of Mosop constituency, and he will vie for Mosop MP.
The probable entry of Dr. Lagat into the Mosop constituency race has caused jitters among politicians who have interest in the seat.
Lagat, the former Nandi governor known for deep pockets, said he has been approached by a number of residents to come back home and seek election.
His interest for Mosop constituency seat came out after his inner circle leaked out crucial information to his opponents that he has since opted for the Mp seat.
He further went on to say that he looks forward to serving the people of Mosop and the Nation from August 2022 or even earlier, if President Uhuru Kenyatta decides to dissolve parliament before then.
“I have accepted the request of the People of Mosop Constituency to serve them and the Nation in that capacity effective August, 2022 or earlier if Parliament is dissolved,” said Lagat
Dr. Lagat ran Nandi from 2013 to 2017 but was defeated by Governor Stephen Sang in 2017 where he came distance third in the general elections. Other aspirants are understandably worried and some analysts say they are right to panic.
His former deputy Governor Dr Dominic Chepyagan who is also vying for the senatorial seat lauded the bold decision by posting on his facebook page.
With his declaration, Lagat will look to succeed current Mosop MP Vincent Tuwei.
Former MP David Tarus and the flamboyant business man Abraham Kirwa have also declared interest in the Mosop constituency seat among other aspirants.
